Residential gardens are very private spaces where one seeks quiet solitude, peace and relaxation from all of life's daily pressures.  Beautiful gardens don’t just happen . . . they begin with a well-planned design that is not only aesthetically pleasing, but functional as well.  A landscape designer understands how to organize spatial relationships and define them with plant materials and architectural elements to create outdoor rooms.  They can crystallize your ideas to give you that garden you’ve been dreaming of and save you time, effort and money in the long run.

Please take the time to follow these simple steps in helping our designer create the garden of your dreams:

  1. Express your ideas and desires candidly . . . you will never receive what you fail to ask for.
  2. Decide how much the budget should be, and how much of the plan, if any, you want to install yourself.
  3. Determine in advance how much time, if any, you plan to spend on maintenance each week/season,  You may need to ask for low-maintenance plants and/or water-wise methods, such as xeriscaping.
  4. List and prioritize your garden needs and desires, such as, privacy screening, access, shade, places to sit and think, colorful foliage, water gardens, special themes, and/or sculptural features like benches,  Trellises, arbors, statuary, rocks, fences and gates. We can even help you find that special focal point that you just haven’t been able to find!
  5. Acknowledge the value of your own ideas . . . don’t be afraid to ‘show & tell’! Any magazine pictures or even your small sketches, as crude as you might think they are, can help the designer turn your ideas into reality. Remember that your garden should express your heart . . . not the designer’s ego.

Environmentally Sensible Landscape Design and Installation - Welcome to Reflections of Nature - garden structures, decking, patios, irrigation, gazebos, Northeast Florida
Reflections of Nature are a member of The Association of Florida Native Nursery,  Florida Native Plant Society, FNGLA, USGBC and a Volunteer for the St. Johns River Water Management. Owner, James Loper started the landscape company 18 years ago.  Our new location is in Fernandina 3030 South 8th Street. Come check out our selection of Florida Native Plants.

We are design/build firm that provides environmentally sensible landscape design, and installation services throughout Northeast Florida.

We have the ability to offer you a complete package, including such site elements as, custom-built garden structures, decking, patios, gazebos, pergolas, irrigation systems, landscape lighting, landscape management, and water gardens to enhance your lifestyle. Ecological landscape design by Reflections of Nature is a sensible alternative to the indistinguishable ornamental landscapes, so often seen today.

Our designs bridge the gap between man and nature. An ecological landscape is one that works with nature, and is specifically suited for your site, climate, and lifestyle. We take in consideration your existing site with its soil/water conditions, sun exposure, and natural surroundings to create a unique garden design. Our business has been built upon client satisfaction and their referrals.

Surprisingly, some of our clients have been so pleased with our landscape designs, that they have offered us the opportunity to display a small sign with our logo within their private residence. We enjoy building these kinds of personal relationships with our clients, and the people who live in the Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia communities.

Reflections of Nature conduct small workshops to share our gardening knowledge and throughout the year we do talks either at our Garden Center or at Local Garden Clubs. Designing a garden is a challenging opportunity; every site is unique with its own set of opportunities and constraints.  A garden is a reflection of the people who live there, just as much as the clothes they wear, or the car they drive. The greatest compliment that we could ever receive would be the knowledge that our clients have developed a greater appreciation and respect for their own natural environment.
